Renzo’s training is Industrial Design (BID, Carleton University) and Architectural Technology. He has been designing environments, be it festivals and outdoor hardware for the National Capital Commission, exhibit furniture for the Museum of Science and Technology or Post Office’s for Canada Post.  For the past 15 years, Renzo has assisted many homeowners with designs for additions or renovations to their homes, plus custom homes, with specific experience and expertise on how to make the most of older or smaller homes. As a certified designer (Large Building BCIN # 37725) with the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, he can submit code-compliant permit and construction ready plans to City planning departments for both residential and commercial work. His careful, contemporary aesthetic can help you quickly reach your design goals.

A career’s worth of being on construction sites and an Associate Certificate in Project Management also means Renzo is available to manage your entire project. Coordinating construction permits, managing contractors and adjusting for on-site issues can then be handled quickly and confidently, keeping the project on–time and on-budget. Funktional Design is also a member of the Canadian Green Building Council In order to stay abreast with modern building science and best practices for sustainable construction and energy conservation.

Philosophy / Values

1. We are in the business of client happiness. Your goals/ objectives are what drives the project. The intention is our knowledge, experience, problem-solving and yes, even aesthetic, compliments versus takes over any client's objectives and satisfaction.

2. Values: To support our philosophy, our commitment is that we will work with Honesty - and expect the same from other members of the project team ; Humility - sometimes we don't know all the answers and will say so ; Integrity - we will do as we say and ; Beauty - practical, clever AND beautiful designs is the goal.
